What is counselling?
Counselling is a process that takes place when one person (the client)who is experiencing a difficult time in their life shares with another person (a professionally trained counsellor) who will support them as well as allow the opportunity to explore the issue in different ways that the client may not have already thought of and work towards moving forward in their life in a positive way. This is offered in a safe environment, where you will feel valued and not judged in any way.
How long is a session?
A session lasts for 1 hour. The number of sessions can vary enormously. Usually a client will come regularly, maybe once a week, but this is discussed and agreed by the client as they will always make the final decision on what they want.
Some clients will only want one or two sessions to move forward while others may require support for much longer. Often this depends on how long the issue you are exploring has been in your life and how flexible you are able to be with your approach.
Who needs counselling?
Probably all of us could do with it as sometime in our life especially if we feel isolated with no one to support us.
Counselling is especially beneficial for those experiencing:

What type of counselling do I offer?
I do not claim to use just one model of counselling as my belief is that every individual needs a different approach. However I do use a person-centred approach, meaning I will treat you as an equal and assist you in finding your own answers which in turn will empower you to move forward in your life.
Counselling is not about advice giving but more about discovering new ways of solving issues in your life. Sometimes we can become stuck and often this is caused by faulty thinking and habits that we have never questioned before.
My main aim is to assist you in feeling empowered in your life and discover how to be 'happy'. This does not depend on what is happening in your life but more about how you approach life.
